The World as Representation – How Can It Be Explained?

The World as Representation – A New Perspective on the Universe

Today, I would like to discuss how we can understand the world as representation. Many are familiar with the work “The World as Will and Representation” by Schopenhauer, which centers around this idea. But what does it mean when the universe is perceived as a representation?

The Relativity of Perception

The universe is often considered as something absolute – a defined space full of matter. However, this view overlooks the fact that each of us has a different image of the universe. These individual representations are based on personal experiences, information, and perceptions.

From this relative perspective, it becomes clear that the universe is not merely a collection of objects but a representational world interconnected through communication and thoughts. Our understanding of the “cosmos” becomes a compilation of information that we actively interpret and expand upon.

The Seven Principles of the World as Representation

1. The world is not an absolute reality: It is a dynamic representation based on our perception.
2. Individual universes: Each person experiences a unique version of the world.
3. Information is relative: Knowledge consists of connections between various data points.
4. Gravitation of thoughts: Our thoughts attract other thoughts, shaping our universe.
5. Blurred perception: Our understanding of logic and reality is often unclear.
6. The openness of the universe: The world is not definitively determined but remains open to new data points.
7. Dynamic reality: The universe is created and evolves through our thoughts and communication.

These principles help us better understand the relativity of our representations and move away from the idea of an absolute universe.

The Function of Information and Thoughts

Information is not simply a single point but rather a point cloud that exists through relationships and connections. This information results from communication and the exchange of ideas. In an open world, new data points constantly emerge, expanding and transforming our reality.

The gravitation of thoughts illustrates how strongly our perception is influenced by others. Thoughts attract further thoughts, similar to planets in the universe, and thus shape our individual and collective reality. This dynamic perspective allows us to see the world as a living process that is never fully defined.
